Inspired by Spring - And a lady's skirt at the shop!

I know, I know, it seems a little strange, but I was basically stalking this lady in Coles yesterday - I wanted the colours from her skirt. And when I finally thought that I was busted I told her that I was going to make a card out of the colours from her skirt and she looked at me with this are you psycho and why are you following me look. So I got out of there fast, I had what I needed!

With the stunning day in Melbourne today it just MADE me want to make this card. Unusual colours for me, but I love it!! It has like a retro feel to it. Have I mentioned that I love my cuttlebug?? You can tell it’s a new item, I feel like a card isn't complete now unless it has a bit of dry embossing on it. Can you see it in the photo??

Cardstock - Taken with Teal, Whisper White

Ink - Taken with Teal, Yoyo Yellow, Only Orange, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black

Accessories - Cuttlebug, 1/4" Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Turquoise Rhinestone Brad.

So hope the rest of you Melbournite's got to enjoy the day today. It was 25C and not a cloud in the sky, and a slight breeze. Don't think you can get much better really.

Thanks for looking and thanks for all your comments girls, it means a lot to me!!

My first Recessed Window Card

Well I did it!  I have wanted to do one of these cards for AGES, but was really scared of it.  Now that I have my trusty score-pal I must say it made the challenge seem so much smaller.  Honestly if any of you girls haven't had a go of making one of these you just HAVE to do it.  It was so much fun to make and something a little different to our usual cards. I think you will see a few more recessed window cards coming up.....

In this card I used Parisan Breeze DSP, Great Friend stamp set, creamy caramel, chocolate chip and baja breeze ink.

Cardstock - sahara sand, very vanilla.

I also used my new victorian cuttlebug embossing folder for the background. (can you tell from the photo??)

Go and have some fun and try something new!  If you do try one just let us know in the comments and we'll come and have a look.  Go on give it a go.

I want to make a tutorial also in Inches and in Cm for all aussies and english that deal with metric measurements.

To see a craft for kids to do please CLICK HERE I have a range of punch art kits that are available world wide! Order your kits today.

Thanks for coming by!

Another Anniversary Card

Its a bit full on this card, but I am happy with the end result! Got to use the cuttlebug again, I must say I am very happy with that purchase.  Should be getting all sorts of new goodies for it next week.  Will post it and show you!

I also got to use my scorepal for this card it made things so much easier!  The black that is layered underneath at the front is the actual card.  I have just added the red scalloped layer on after.  Do you understand what I mean??

I also used the Always stamp set, a frame from the Gallery stamp set and the "together" from the Definitions set.

Cardstock - Whisper White, Real Red and Basic Black.

Thanks for all your comments girls.  And for those of you that have started following my blog lately I have never posted so many posts in one weekend EVER! So don't get used to it. lol.  You probably won't hear from me for a month now.  Just kidding!

Thanks for looking

A simple Card for Sympathy

I have been meaning to give this card to a friend at work who's father passed away from cancer.  Will hopefully get to it to her on Monday.  I just kept it really simple, probably the most simple card I have ever made.  I wasn't going to post it on my blog.  But there is something about it that I wanted to share.  Maybe just to remember how we should appreciate each day, our health and our family???

Thanks for stopping by.

This one is for TWO challenges. Inspirations and Pals Paper Arts

While I am on an absolute roll with my creativity this weekend, why not post another creation!!  I am in shock with myself.  I should have cleaned up the stamp room so long ago it has given me a new creative mojo.

I did my first inspiration challenge on the previous post and then I went and had a look at everyone elses.  I don't know about you, but when I am doing a challenge I don't like to look at anyones first so that it doesn't corrupt my thinking!  I second guess myself and it gets me all confused as to what to do.  So I posted mine then had a look at some of the others.  Here is what inspired us -

Amy's is just adorable and Kirsty's really inspired me click on their names to see their creations.  I have had a art pad there for ages that Ange Dickins gave me to decorate and have never got around to it.  Well today I got around to it.  Here it is-

As I said it is very much inspired by Kirsty's so I can't claim really much at all!! But it was great fun and I am so happy that I got it done. I thought that I may as well put it in for Pals Paper Arts challenge as well, while I am in the challenge mood.  This week is Anything But A Card Challenge  So here it is.

A few of us girls are going to the werribee market in December, what do you think girls?? Between some of these, the candles and our cards I think we will make a killing. lol.  More to spend on more stamp sets.

I also have to thank Keesh (we are on nickname basis now that she commented on my last post) for the motivation to get my Organic Outlines out too I think it had some dust on it from lack of use.

You should have heard my husband from the other room when he saw a message on my post from Makeesha! It was too funny and he is too cute.  Its like if you get a comment from Mary Fish its like someone famous has come to visit you.  I wouldn't know what that feels like, only my husband has got one of her comments on this card - click here.  It is an amazing card though I'll give him that.

Thanks for looking

Inspiration Challenge number 14

My first inspiration challenge!! Hooray I really love Makeesha Byl's blog it has some great ideas.  This is one of them.  Thanks to Carolina for inspiring me to do one, go have a look at hers I just love it!

So here is what we are inspired by, this gorgeous bed spread!

And here is what I came up with -

Even though the canvas background stamp has retired, I just had to use it for the background of the Upsy Daisy as it just looks like the sheets in the picture! lol.

I think that most have gone with taken with teal and kiwi kiss, but i did the pacific point and old olive instead.  Then the basic grey, baja breeze, whisper white, basic black, and some urban dsp.

I told you that cleaning my stamp room has given me creative flow.  How many cards have I made in two days.  Like five, I still have to post the other two.

Anyway, let me know what you think, you know that I love comments

Chocolate Flourless Cake

This is such a fantastic recipe and every time I make it so many people talk about it. They even remember it months later. So it must be a winner. And the best part about it is that with so many not able to have wheat it is getting difficult to know what to cook - well this is good for both! I got it from a Sue Shepherd cookbook - Two Irresistible for the Irritable. It is such a brilliant book.

So the Ingredients are -
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup water
150g unsalted butter
150g dark cooking chocolate
1 1/4 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/4 cups almond meal
4 eggs, separated

Preheat the oven to 150C. Grease and line a 22cm round spring-form cake pan.
In a saucepan over low heat, combine cocoa, water, butter and chocolate until melted and smooth in consistency. Remove from heat stir in sugar, almond meal and egg yolks.
Transfer to a large bowl and leave to cool to room temperature.

Beat egg whites in a small bowl with electric mixer until soft peaks form.

Fold egg whites into chocolate mixture in two batches.

Pour mixture into prepared cake pan.

Bake, uncovered for 55-65 minutes. Remove from oven. Allow cake to cool in pan for about 20 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool completely.

I like to leave mine at least for one day in the fridge as it can be a little "gooey" if you eat it the same day. Some love it like this, but I prefer a more cakey texture.

If you wanted to you could serve with Ganace and strawberries!! Delicious!

We’re going to be eating this on Sunday for family get together. Yum!

I also make these sweet things today too. Not for me though some work happening at the Kingdom hall and I thought I would give the men some real men food. Lol

So thats it for me!  Maybe another post later?? Can I do a record and put three in the one day??  We'll see.

The Parisian Breese DSP!

Can you believe i'm posting again!! I'm on a roll.  Now that the study is all cleaned up I am so inspired.  It makes me WANT to come into this room and create.  I'll see how long I can keep it neat and tidy, Bruno said a week.  I'll have to prove him wrong there.  He so knows that his only chance is reverse phsycology and that doesn't even work sometimes even if I do want to prove him wrong. lol.

So back to my new card.  Bit different for me, new stamp set that I am trying its the Playful Petals set of seven.  I am using the parisian breeze DSP for the first time, oh I am so in love with that paper.  I want to get another lot before the mini finishes in November.  Which reminds me if any of you girls want to start thinking about your orders from that catalogue, now is the time.  Just email me if you want to order anything.  If any of you missed out on seeing the mini catalogue please just let me know.

Recipe:  Stamp set - Playful Petals and Great Friend (for the sentiment)
Cardstock - Close to Cocoa, Whisper White
DSP - Parisian Breeze
Ribbon - Double Stitched Grosgrain Chocolate Chip (thanks Ange!)
Punches - Scallop edge, Spiral and round edge (the round edge is missing from the catalogue but still can be ordered just let me know if you were after it, its only $12.95AUD.
Ink - Black StazOn (I love that ink) Close to Cocoa and Baja breeze
Techniques - Daubing the edges with close to cocoa.

There you have it!  Hope you like it.

Yes I am using DSP! its a rare thing to see

Just thought I would pop in and say hi!! trying to get back to basics and actually make some cards. Its quite exciting really I have my new DSP to use the Bella Blue and my cuttlebug machine which I am just loving to bits. Got to get used to the names of the embossing folders but I am sure you can tell by looking anyway.

It was nice to get the Sahara sand out as it has been a while and I have the Not quite Navy and very vanilla. I was very happy with addition of the vanilla taffeta ribbon I must say.

I did a MASSIVE clean up in the stamp room today. Even Bruno seemed impressed. It is so nice to have bench space but I definitely need some more shelving of some sort, I would love to get some rails to hang my punches on - but we'll see about drilling holes into a rental place's wall??!! Anyone else got any ideas for me?

Anyway off to bed now...... way past my bed time AGAIN!

Photo's from the Regionals

Here are some photos for those that didn't get to go to the regionals or did go and we didn't get to meet you during the day! It was just buzzing in that conference room and people madly swapping their cards and talking and hugging. It was just so so fantastic!! I was like a little girl in a candy shop, I just didn't know where to look or go.
Lets meet the girls that have all come together because of Angela Dickins starting with Stampin up! Bec and I are her downlines and there are a few that are considering starting and some who wish they were demonstrators but it just doesn't fit in right now..... but that may change!

Left to right - Me, Tasharni, Bec Gomez

Jess Scott (such a poser) We were trying the new poses after Hollies presentation! lol

Then the announcement that there was door prizes, pretty much all of us said, I never win door prizes including this person!!

And what a surprise Bec Gomez got a door prize (mind you she ALWAYS wins door prizes!)

Can you hear my jealousy through my typing?

Here's the stamp set she got, those butterflies are just too cute! I think this summer mini is going to be so great. (of course!)

Here is Carolina and I she has some GREAT stuff on her blog so click on her name to see all her amazing creations.

Here is Sue and Angela or wired up ready to do their presentations. They did SOOOO amazing. Congratulations girls. Click on their names to see their blogs (if you haven't already!)

There was just so many brilliant card ideas, all of them so original and lovely!! I just couldn't stop taking photos of them all.

And here is my gorgeous sister in law and friend Angela!! Don't we look great together, thanks to Hollie giving us all the tips to make sure we didn't get a double chin and found our right angle. Bruno and I call the no double chin "turtle neck" in other words stick that neck out!! lol.

And here is my attempt at the candle that we learnt how to do on Saturday, hey I'm happy for a first time, but I am sure that there is room for improvement. Especially after seeing Bec's candles, they put mine completely to shame. (Click on her name to see)
So there you have it stamping friends, hope you enjoyed tonights blog. I am so happy that I got to share these photos with you and feel free to comment as you all know that I LOVE getting comments.

Happy Tenth Anniversary Ange & Pete!

This card was made for my sister-in-law and bro-in-law Pete and Ange for their tenth wedding anniversary which is tomorrow!! I was very excited to be able to use my cuttlebug for a card for the FIRST time and i'm very happy with how it came up.
My lovely husband has advised me that he has bought me four cutting dies from ebay brand new for my new toy. He is just so wonderful and supportive. Thanks Hon!
Anyway back to the card lol - I also embossed the hearts in black embossing powder on the grey cardstock, it was just missing something so I did the white heart as well and I thought that it just went with the embelishments.
I also sponged the edges of the red and the white heart with black ink and added the black grosgrain ribbon.
Anyway let me know what you all think and for you out there that read my blog or are here for the first time I would love to hear from you too!!
Hopefully after the regionals tomorrow I will get into creating some new cards to hopefully inspire you all.

Ready for The Regional's

Well as of Sunday night I have got all of my handmade cards that I will be swapping as my "business card" on Saturday at the regionals. I will be able to swap with other demonstrators and card enthusists and get ideas, contacts and share!! I have made 50 so I am VERY happy with the fact I got them all done as I really didn't expect to have this many and be organised so early in the week.

Do you think they will like them?? You may remember that I did this for an earlier post for the spring mini. If you look on page five the colours of the rub on sheet is what inspired me for this card.

Anyway, I'm in blog overload now. You don't hear from me in months and then I am posting almost everyday.

You will hear from me soon. I am bringing my camera to the regional's so will post up some of my favorite shots.

I also wanted to introduce Annette - She has been stamping for about six months now and is doing so fantastic with her creations that I wanted to share some with you all to see. She doesn't have a blog right now, but maybe if we keep bugging her, things may change.

Here they are -

Be sure to make some comments on her cards and let you know what you think. I will pass them onto her.

Thanks all

And don't forget if you are coming to paperific on the Friday 13th November to come to the stampin up stand and let me know that you read my blog. Would love to meet you in person.

Kylie-Jo

New goodies!!

I am just so excited that I had to share it with all of you!! On Friday I got to attend the Craftfest show, and I would have come home with some extra money if I hadn't have gone - but I am very excited about my purchases. So much so that I have to share them with you.

I FINALLY got a CUTTLE BUG!! It is a very exciting purchase and I have wanted it for a while. When I used it for the first time I thought that I had broken it as it cut the plastic cover, like left an imprint of the cartridge. Thanks to Rachel though, she let me know that it was normal and I hadn't done anything wrong. It is a great tool to have and I am looking forward to getting a few more die cuts for it. If anyone know the best place for reasonably priced die cuts and embossing folders I would love to hear from you. I heard that Spellbinders die cuts work with it too.

I also got to get a score pal, which I am pretty sure is every card makers dream tool. Even if I am exaggerating, I am sure its true. I am going to go on splitcoast and look for some intricate cards to use my scorepal with and get to know it a bit better.

But the even BIGGER purchase was that Bruno and I decided I needed my own lap top..... so I got one on the way home!!! Wow Wow!! I am just bubbling with excitement. We were just so sick of fighting over who was on the computer each night that we thought, hey why don't we both get one. I am very happy because it has a number pad on the left which is brilliant for my stampin up orders.
So there you have it!

Enough gloating about my goodies, now I just want to say how proud I am of my husband and gloat about him!

Thursday night he found out that we are doing a renovation at our Kingdom Hall on the Saturday and they needed four cakes. He said, rather than ask people last minute, I'll make them. And that he did!! A sour cream apple slice, Date cake, Carrot cake and raspberry muffins all in a matter of a few hours. It was incredible to watch really. I think I have a masterchef on my hands here. Good job honey.

Kylie is BACK!

Hi everyone,
Bruno and I are back from our trip of a lifetime (for this year) and slowly getting back into things, we had such a memorable time, words can't really describe it properly but here's a few photo's that may give you an idea.

I promise I will get card making soon, it has been so hectic since we got back I feel like me time is slipping through my fingers and I have wanted to post something for over two weeks now and haven't got to.

There are many exciting stampin up events coming up on my calendar the next few months. Some highlights would be the Stampin up Regionals on the 17th October being held at the Crowne Promenade. It will be all day training, card swapping, learning new techniques. I just can't wait!! I am sure that they have selected only the best demonstrators to train us. We also, which is also a major highlight, are providing LUNCH! and a stamp set from the up and coming Mini catalogue and I get to play with my great friends Ange, joanna, Carolina, bec, jess and tasharni. Its all just too exciting.

This weekend Ange is at the craftfest if you felt like popping in and saying hello. I am going tomorrow afternoon. It is very dangerous for me to be there, but I am going to go with a budget! Here are the details

I will be there on Friday 13th November and Angela will be there on the Saturday.

So there you go! All happening in the next two months, not to mention an engagement party, a wedding, (Bruno and I are the photographers for the day) a valedictory dinner, a special day assembly, a concert, seven dinner parties, four workshops and our 6th wedding anniversary. help!! lol.

In December all I have in the pipeline at the moment is to go to the Werribee Craft Market on the 12th. There are a few of us stampin up girls going to sell our cards and also to get some new interest in classes and workshops. Should be a fun day!!

So here is something for now, a little snapshot of what we did in Korea, Japan and Thailand. I might through in a few photo's here and there that I find along the way. Don't want to overwhelm you with too many at once. Feel free to ask any questions about them.

Miss you all and can't wait to catch up soon.

Kylie
