Sheltering Tree Sympathy Card

It's interesting with creativity how what you are feeling on the inside can be released into your art and such an incredible outlet. I found out some sad news about some close friends this week. I didn't know what card I was going to be making and this is the card that came out of me. I feel it has projected the sadness and empty feelings I have inside from hearing the news. I find craft such incredible therapy and being able to release stressful situations this way is so good for the heart, mind and body. Here is my card -

Doesn't it just emit sadness? The tree with no leaves and no embellishments to soften the card exposes some raw feelings and emotions.

Once I made the card I had NO idea what sentiment to use - I thought that this one was appropriate as it can work for sympathy but many other stressful situations that can come up.

These colours are such wintery, sad, stormy, emotional colours.

I do feel good about being able to release some of my sadness into this card - of course it won't remove it but I feel like it has helped me express and deal with it. Processing information can be difficult when it is something we don't expect to hear.

  1. Sorry about your friend. Absolutely beautiful, Kylie! Great combination of patterns and texture. I, too, love that we can pour ourselves into these cards - there's a little bit of you there.
