World Travellers - Mojo Monday 406

I am celebrating some exciting news! I have been asked to be a part of the Splitcoaststampers Design Team - The Dirty Dozen! I can't believe it, this is an incredible honour and really overwhelming for me. I will give you more details in my next post.

To celebrate this incredible new role I made a Mojo Monday card based on the theme of the Dirty Dozen Design team this month of Hit the Road. (and had a glass of Champagne...)

Here is the Mojo Monday card Sketch -

And here is my card

You may be wondering why that one country is highlighted.. do you know the name of that Island? It is very famous. That is Madagascar! That's right it is a real country not just in a cartoon. Our friends have been asked to move to Madagascar as full time Bible Teachers and we are THRILLED for them! They are going to have such a wonderful time. So what a great way to let them know we are thinking of them and make a special card just for them highlighting their exciting new destination.

I have highlighted Madagascar by stamping on Always Artichoke Card Stock and then fussy cutting it and raising it with a dimensional. The arrows are pointing to the destination.

The Colours I chose are colours that remind me of Africa. Because Madagascar is an island and part of Africa that is what I was inspired by. Did you know that over 22 million people live there? WOW! They speak Malagasy and French in that country. I know that our friends Marcus and Shelli will have such an exciting time and such an adventure.

Tips and Techniques:

I have used the Writing Notes background stamp and stamped it twice to create the grid paper look. It won't line up perfectly - so if you are a perfectionist it may not be for you - but I love the grungy look it gives to this card.

You may be wondering what did I use the watercolor Wings for when you see the supply list - it is for those cute little dots on that first layer.
